The greatest lesson I’ve learned from meditation was the blessing of letting go. Although I’m still mastering this art, I’m already reaping the rewards of 9 years of practice.
Emotional detachment from events and circumstances leads to freedom, and life gets lighter when we stop being so overwhelmed by its ups and downs.
When I sit to meditate and witness with all my senses the impermanent nature of my thoughts, feelings, and sensations, it becomes much easier to observe the same pattern in the outside world and my relationship with it.
Everything passes, we are passing, and life is flowing. The only thing that sticks around is our fixation on a certain way of being and doing things.
So, let’s see the key benefits of practicing emotional detachment, whether through meditation or other means.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DECIDE TO LET GO
1. We become less dependent on people’s opinions and expectations about us.
2. The hardships of life don’t seem as scary as before.
3. Criticism and compliments lose their power over us.
4. We make peace with life’s impermanence.
5. Problems, challenges, and doubts become more manageable.

6. Thoughts and emotions are treated as feedback rather than absolute truths.
7. We stop taking ourselves too seriously.
8. The recovery from a heartbreak or any other type of mourning becomes easier and faster.
9. Words like “forever,” “never,” and “always” are less and less used.
10. We can differentiate better between the things we can control and those that don’t depend on us.
Putting some distance between us and the perceived reality is vital for a more conscious life. By doing so, we see more clearly, allowing us to make better choices.
💡 If you struggle with attachment and fear regarding the end of cycles, relationships, or circumstances, consider trying meditation. It can help you release these patterns and achieve peace of mind.
