10 Signs You’re Healing And Growing

When we begin to work on ourselves, the signs of our progress become evident.

We change our habits and environments, and even our personalities tend to improve.

As we heal from traumas, our relationships with ourselves and others become more positive.

When you are mostly healed and have a deep understanding of yourself:

**You become more selective**

You allow into your inner circle only those who resonate with your values and mindset.

**You enjoy being alone**

You’ve moved past the phase of disliking your own company and overvaluing others’. The intimacy you’ve built with yourself makes your alone time joyful and rejuvenating.

**You don’t tolerate disrespect or abuse**

Regardless of how attractive, intelligent, or accomplished someone may be, if they cannot respect you, they must leave your life.

**You maintain a balanced diet and lifestyle**

You become mindful of what you eat, drink, and how you treat your body because you’ve learned to listen to it and show it respect.

**Your life is more authentic**

You care less about others’ opinions and more about what matters to you. This allows you to live on your own terms, despite any judgment or criticism from loved ones.

**You know how to set boundaries**

Saying no when necessary is no longer a challenge, even if someone retaliates or walks away.

**You can handle rejection**

You enter relationships with an awareness of the risk of not being chosen, and that’s perfectly fine.

**You take accountability**

Apologizing for your mistakes and dealing with the consequences is no longer an issue. You do not deny them or place blame on others.

**You’re mostly in a good mood**

By taking care of your mental and physical health, you often feel good to be alive.

**You have overcome the victim mentality**

You are finished with drama and manipulation in your relationships, which means you neither play the victim nor accept this perspective from others.

  2. An excellent checklist. Sometimes we make more progress in one area than another. Often, we regress. But that does not mean we are not moving forward w/ our healing. Every day lived after trauma is an achievement. ❀

  3. FABULOUS post – so many good points – but I fee l like, “Overcoming the victim mentality” is core. It is also such a touchy subject – but it is SO true – you really have to accept some agency… it’s actually empowering once you get over the initial fear of it. Linda xx

    1. You hit the nail on the head!

In my experience, this is the most important of all signs. Once you stop feeling like a victim, you begin to heal and grow right away.
