Inner Compass Gem #28 – Debunking Myths of Letting Go

🎯 Let’s be real—healing isn’t easy. And half the time, it’s not the pain that stops us.

It’s the fears, doubts, and outdated beliefs we’ve picked up along the way.

💖 If you’ve ever felt unsure about starting your emotional healing journey, you’re not alone.

💡 How about clearing up some of those myths to make your journey feel a little lighter?

THE MYTH ABOUT LETTING GO

“Maybe it’s just me—I should try harder.”

⚠️This internalized belief leads to over-functioning and self-blame in relationships or work environments that are emotionally unsafe.

The Truth: Healing means knowing the difference between accountability and self-abandonment. Sometimes trying harder isn’t strength—it’s self-neglect.

🧠 Shift Your Mindset: You deserve peace, not punishment.

Trust your instincts when something doesn’t feel right—even if you can’t explain it yet.

  1. I cannot count the number of times I tried harder far long than I should have. Endurance is a virtue I prize. But that determination to try harder was born in emotionally unsafe conditions, exactly as you say.

As children we assumed responsibility for an outcome over which, in fact, we had no control. However painful holding on may have been, it gave us a much needed sense of control. At least, it gave me that.

Letting go after all those years was a surprising relief.

    1. I also feel relieved when I let go. Even when it involves losing something valuable, I always feel more aligned with life and less limited.
