I like this kind of thing – mindset is everything. When bad things happen in a day I’m tempted to say it’s one of those days. I stop myself now and say – nope, it’s not one of those days. Some bad shit has gone down and now it’s going to be good. It works. I think are you sure this is true is often one that should be asked.

    1. “It’s not one of those days” is a great phrase.

Cancelling a negative thought as soon as it pops up works very well for me too.

Thank you for coming by and contributing to the post, Simon. I loved it. 🙂

  2. These phrases do help us put things in perspective, and reclaim our power, even as we are bombarded by negative inner thoughts or external stimuli. God, of course, is far greater than we. Here, therefore, are a few phrases from Scripture I find helpful:

      1. “Be still and know that I am God” (Ps. 46: 10).
      2. “Jesus said…’I am the way, the truth, and the life…'” (John 14: 6).
      3. “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin…Now if God so clothes the grass of the field…will He not much more clothe you…[S]eek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow…” (Matt. 6: 28, 30, 33-34).
      4. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8: 28).
      5. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil. 4: 13).
      6. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3: 23).
      7. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isa. 26: 3).

Great post! #4 sorta resonated with me… along the lines of “this, too, shall pass.” I guess it’s just a matter of toughing it out until things change—or the new normal becomes bearable 😎
